<image:title>Writing Workshops - Unicorn Medicine</image:title>
<image:caption>Unicorn Medicine: Creative Writing for Queer and Trans Folks makes space for queer and trans folks to write history in the making as we are experiencing it, heal our depleted selves in a supportive community, and magic revolutions into being. With a strong commitment to confidentiality and craft, these workshops generate creative writing which spans genres—from memoir to poetry to short stories, from science fiction to playwriting to novels. The Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA) workshop method values every writing voice using a clear structure which creates non-hierarchical safer space for all participants. In this hands-on workshop for new and seasoned writers, we tap into our authentic writing voices, past the critic, and into the stories our hearts wish to tell.</image:caption>

<image:title>Writing Workshops - Petals and Thorns</image:title>
<image:caption>Petals and Thorns: Creative Writing for Survivors of Trauma As trauma survivors, our self-protective tendency can be to “check out”. Writing is one way to check back in with our embodied self. Evident across cultures world-wide, storytelling within community can generate an atmosphere of resiliency, authentic self-expression, bearing witness, self-regulation and healing. The Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA) workshop method is a viable practice for doing just that.</image:caption>

<image:title>Writing Workshops - Amherst Writers & Artists Method</image:title>
<image:caption>The AWA workshop method creates a non-hierarchical safer space for all participants using these five essential affirmations: 1) Everyone has a strong, unique voice. 2) Everyone is born with creative genius. 3) Writing as an art form belongs to all people, regardless of economic class or educational level. 4) The teaching of craft can be done without damage to a writer's original voice or artistic self-esteem. 5) A writer is someone who writes.
